Badger Death Records and the State System
Badger is located in Fairbanks North Star Borough, southeast of Fairbanks along the Chena River. All death records for Badger residents are issued by the Health Analytics and Vital Records Section (HAVRS). The Fairbanks North Star Borough at fnsb.gov handles local government functions but does not process vital records requests.
Alaska Statute AS 18.50 governs all vital records in the state. Death records are restricted for 50 years from the date of death. Records from before 1975 are now available to the public. Records from 1975 onward require proof of an eligible relationship, such as being the spouse, parent, child, or sibling of the deceased person.
Alaska's death registration system began in 1913. The Badger area, as part of the broader Fairbanks North Star Borough, is covered by the Fairbanks Precinct territorial records held at the Alaska State Archives. Death records for the Fairbanks area dating as far back as 1907 are available through FamilySearch as part of the Alaska State Archives digitization project.
